Description
Join fellow members of Pittsburgh's business and civic community to learn more about the important role that immigrant entrepreneurs are playing in the nation's technology economy. Our special guest speaker, Vivek Wadhwa is currently serving as an adjunct professor/executive in residence at the Pratt School for Engineering at Duke University, where his research has focused on the impact of globalization and outsourcing on the engineering profession, the competitive threat from India and China, and one of America's greatest advantages--its skilled immigrants. Among his recent works include a series of papers titled America's New Immigrant Entrepreneurs, which documented that one in four engineering companies founded between 1995 and 2005 had at least one immigrant founder. Those companies employed nearly 450,000 people in 2006 and generated more than $52 billion. During his visit to the region, Mr. Wadhwa will share his thoughts on how the region can leverage the power of immigrants to help transform our economy.

Event sponsored by JBM Immigration Group and Seth Law Associates.
